Preview: Kootenay at Victoria, Tues Dec 3rd, 2013

The Victoria Royals (18-11-0-1, 37pts), entertain the Kootenay Ice (15-12-2-0, 32 pts) in their lone meeting of the season Tuesday.

The Royals look for their first win against the Ice since moving to the Island as they kick of a 3 game homestand.

Victoria is 4th in the West, and had their 5 game win streak snapped with a 6-3 loss at Seattle on Saturday.  The Royals had only given up 4 goals during that stretch.

Victoria wraps up a successful month of November winning 9 of 13 games.

Kootenay begins their BC Divison road swing 6th in the East, after having their 3 game win streak snapped at home in a 5-1 loss to Edmonton.

North Vancouver’s Reinhart has been named to the World Junior Selection Camp for Team Canada, along with his brother Griffen.  He is 5th in league scoring and is currently predicted to be the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft.

The Ice also feature Swiss born sniper and 3rd round pick of the Canadiens, Tim Bozon acquired in a trade from the Blazers.  Bozon has 15 points in 16 games since coming over.

Royals forward Mitch Skapski could face his older brother, netminder Mackenzie Skapski a New York Ranger draft pick.

Victoria is 14-0 when scoring the first goal of the game, and 13-0 when leading after 40 minutes.  They own the leagues #1 penalty kill, while allowing the fewest goals against on average per game.

Victoria is without 20 year old defenseman Jordan Fransoo (upper, 4 weeks), Joe Hicketts (upper, indefinite) and Jack Walker (illness, day to day).

After facing Kootenay, Victoria entertains Vancouver for a pair Friday and Saturday and then embark on a 5 game road trip before the Christmas break.
