Recap: Everett 3 - Victoria 2

The visiting Everett Silvertips, paced by Ryan Harrison’s two goals got past the Victoria Royals 3-2 Wednesday night.

The Silvertips sweep the two game set by identical scores in their first two meetings of the season and climb to within 3 points of the Royals for the final playoff spot in the West.  Victoria with 40 points is tied with Seattle for 8th, with the Thunderbirds holding 3 games in hand.

Kent Simpson made 29 stops again to earn his 12th victory of the season.  Keith Hamilton made 26 saves Wednesday suffering his 28th defeat.

Victoria out shot Everett 31 – 29, while their power play went 1 for 2, stopping all 3 Everett chances.

The Royals opened the scoring in the second on Jamie Crooks 30th, but the Silvertips would add a pair to take a 2-1 lead to the third on goals by Ryan Harrison and Ryan Chynoweth.  Dakota Conroy evened the score at 2, with Hayden Rintoul collecting his second assist of the night. 

With 8 and a half minutes left, Harrison would net the eventual game winner with his second of the evening, taking the full 4 points in the two game set.  They’ll meet next in Everett on March 7th, and 10th. 

The Royals continue their 5 game homestand (0-2) next Wednesday against the Calgary Hitmen.

Hayden Rintoul picked up 2 helpers to extend his assist streak to 5 games (6a).  While with his 30th, Jamie Crooks pushes his point streak to 6 games (5g, 1a) and is 1 shy of tying Oscar Moller for 3rd all time in goals with 71.  Ben Walker and Brandon Magee had their 5 game streaks halted in the loss.
