Royals Named to U17 Team Pacific



ROYALS’ ROOKIES NAMED TO TEAM PACIFIC
Victoria’s Tyler Soy and Chaz Reddekopp to skate for Team Pacific at 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals would like to congratulate forward Tyler Soy and defenceman Chaz Reddekopp on being named to represent Team Pacific at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Cape Breton, NS. Assistant Coach Enio Sacilotto and Athletic Therapist Khore Elliott have also been named to Team Pacific’s staff.

Soy, a Cloverdale, BC native, leads all Royals’ rookies in scoring so far this season with eight points (4g-4a) in 21 games played. Last year, the 5-11, 168 lb centre skated with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Prep Team where he collected 99 points (38g-61a) in 52 games. Soy also appeared in seven regular season games for the Royals during the 2012-13 WHL season as well as all six of the club’s first round playoff games versus Kamloops. Soy was the Royals’ first pick, eighth overall, of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft

Reddekopp, a 6-3, 215 lb defender, is also in his first season with Victoria. In 13 games played so far this year, the West Kelowna, BC product has chipped in with three assists and logged nine penalty minutes. Reddekopp came to the Royals from the Pursuit of Excellence (POE) Midget program. During the 2012-13 season with POE, Reddekopp scored 51 points (18g-33a) in 61 games played. Reddekopp was selected 13th overall by Victoria in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Royals’ assistant coach, Enio Sacilotto, will join Team Pacific as one of the team’s assistant coaches. Sacilotto in entering his third season with Victoria after spending time with various hockey leagues around the world, which included stops in Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Denmark, England and Croatia. He has also coached in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), where he was named BCHL Coach of the Year for the 1994-95 season with the Penticton Vees.

Khore Elliott, the Royals’ athletic therapist, has been named one of Team Pacific’s athletic therapists. Elliott will enter his second season with Victoria this year. Elliott previously worked with the Canadian Under-20 Rugby team, the Victoria Salmon Kings, the BCHL’s Cowichan Valley Captials, the Westshore Rebels and at the BMO Skate Canada National Championships.

The 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will bring together the top hockey talent under the age of 17 from across Canada and around the world. The tournament will take place from December 29, 2013 to January 4, 2014 in Cape Breton, NS.

The Royals will host 2015 NHL Draft top prospect Mathew Barzal and the Seattle Thunderbirds at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a two-game set beginning tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled 7:05 p.m. on Friday night.
