The Royals who were heavily outshot 45-16 earned two power play goals on three opportunities to help forge a second period come back. The Giants scored the lone goal in the third to force overtime.
Austin Carroll, Ben Walker, Brandon Magee and Luke Harrison scored the regulation goals for Victoria, while in the 22 player total shoot out saw goals from; Joe Hicketts Mitch Deacon and Brett Cote.
Magee and Carroll had a goal and an assist each for multi point nights.
Jared Rathjen started in goal, making 17 saves on 20 shots, splitting the duties was Coleman Vollrath who kicked out 24 of 25 pucks and stopping 9 of 11 skaters in the shoot out. Liam Liston allowed 4 goals on 15 shots for Vancouver.
There were three fights to go along with the 108 minutes of total penalites. Jordan Fransoo fought Dalton Sward in the second, Taylor Crunk versus Taylor Makin and Austin Carroll against John Neibrant, both in the third.
The Royals play in Victoria Saturday afternoon at 2pm against Vancouver for their final pre season game. The regular season kicks of Friday September 21st back in Vancouver.
