Preview: Victoria at Edmonton, Tues, Dec 17th 2013

The Victoria Royals (22-13-0-2, 46pts) wrap up their 5 game road trip against the Edmonton Oil Kings (23-9-0-1, 47pts) Tuesday night.

Victoria looks to even the season series, after a 5-0 loss on the Island November 6th.

The Royals are coming off a 6-1 win against the Hurricanes on Sunday and have points in 3 straight on the trip (2-1-0-1). The Royals got goals from six different players. 

Ryan Gagnon scored his first WHL goal which stood as the winner, as he along with Brandon Magee and Steven Hodges had a goal and assist each.  Coleman Vollrath made 30 saves for the win.  Brett Cote and Chaz Reddekopp picked up 2 assists each while Ben Walker, Austin Carroll and Mitch Skapski rounded out the scoring.

After falling 3-2 in Vancouver Tuesday, the club won 4-3 in overtime in Swift Current Thursday, and picked up a single in a 4-3 shoot out loss Saturday in Medicine Hat.

Victoria has earned 5 of a possible 8 points, 4 games into the road trip.  They pull in to a tie for 3rd with Everett, while Seattle and Spokane are tied, 2 points back.

The Oil Kings have won 9 in a row, sitting atop of the Eastern Conference.  Their last loss came at home to Prince George 8-3 on November 22nd.  During the win streak, they’ve outscored their opposition 38-18.

Edmonton is without 5 players off to World Junior selection Camps and 112 points. Mads Eller attending on behalf of Denmark, Edgars Kulda for Latvia, Curtis Lazar and Griffin Reinhart for Canada, Henrik Samuelsson for USA.
