Recap: EVT 0 - VIC 1 SOW

Jack Walker scored the lone goal in the shoot out and Patrik Polivka earned his 5th shutout as the Victoria Royals (27-13-0-2, 56pts) blanked the visiting Everett Silvertips 1-0 on New Years Day.

The Royals sweep the ‘Tips in the home and home after a 3-2 victory on the road New Years Eve.

Victoria pulls 5 points ahead of Everett and 2 ahead of Portland but remain 3rd in the West as the Winterhawks are the top seed in the US Division.

The Royals extend their win streak to 6 games, and have points in 8 straight (7-0-0-1).

Polivka made 24 saves through overtime and stopped all 3 shooters to earn his league leading 5th shutout, and 18th win of the year.

Austin Lotz kicked out all 29 Victoria shots and stopped Ben Walker and Steven Hodges in the shoot out but not Jack Walker who shot second.

Neither team struck with the man advantage, as the Royals went 0 for 5, and the Silvertips 0 for 2.

Victoria forward Axel Blomqvist left the game after losing a tooth when he took a puck to the mouth.  The Royals were already without, Brandon Magee (lower day to day), Joe Hicketts (upper 6-7 weeks), forward Logan Nelson (upper 1-2 weeks), and forward Braden Oleksyn (upper 4-5 weeks).

At the U-17’s are Royals Tyler Soy and Chaz Reddekopp.

Victoria heads out on a two game US road swing with stops in Spokane Friday and Portland Saturday.
