Saturday Calgary overcame a 4-1 second period deficit, rattling off five unanswered goals to beat Kootenay 6-4 at the Saddledome.

Victoria beat the visiting Portland Winterhawks 6-2 Monday, in their first meeting since a 5 game second round defeat in last years post season.

The Royals have points in their last two outings, picking up a single in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Broncos last Saturday.

After Calgary, Victoria plays in Medicine Hat Saturday, Tuesday in Red Deer, Wednesday in Edmonton, Friday in Lethbridge and Saturday at Kootenay.
The Royals will then kick off a 5 game homestand and unveil their first ever 3rd Jersey when they entertain the Giants on Friday October 24th, followed by Pink In The Rink on the 25th.

CHL IMPORT DRAFT: Calgary selected 17-year-old Pavel Karnaukhov with the 56th overall pick in the 2014 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. Last season, Karnaukhov, a native of Minsk, Belarus, scored 13 goals and added 16 assists for 29 points along with 56 penalty minutes over 48 games played with Krasnaya Armiya Moskva of the MHL. Karnaukhov also played for Team Russia at the 2014 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament where he had one assist in four games.

OFF SEASON CHANGES: Mark French was hired on June 12 to replace Mike Williamson becoming the eighth head coach in franchise history. French, a native of Milton, Ontario, has an extensive coaching resume having been both a head coach and an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears for six seasons. Last season he was the bench boss of Medvescak Zagreb of the KHL, where he guided the expansion team to the playoffs after a 92-point regular season that included setting a league record for most consecutive wins by a debut team at eight. Also on June 12 the Hitmen promoted Associate Coach Brent Kisio who adds the title Assistant General Manager.
