Main Camp: Day 1 Video, Interviews & Highlights

Royals Main Camp Day1:

GAME: Burgandy (Team Santorelli) vs Grey (Team Rintoul)

For Burgandy, Goaltender Patrik Polivka (Pole-liv-kah) looked good.  Two saves on penalty calls (essentially breakaways with a player in pursuit), he stopped several chances in tight with rebounds and redirected many shots away and into corners.  Very quick netminder.

D Kye McKinney '95 used his big body and was blocking shots. D Daniel Stone '96 used his speed to get in alone.  D Jesse Zgraggen played physical and even went deep into the offensive zone.  D Kade Pilton was denied by G Owen Carlson on a glorious chance.   He used his long reach to break up plays throughout the neutral zone.  D Ryan Gagnon '96 looked poised and his rising point shot bounced in past G Owen Carlson '95.

F Austin Carroll '94 intercepted a Kanzig clear for a chance and also unleashed a boomer over the net.  F Logan Fisher '95 sniped from a sharp angle, low stick side for a goal.  He was stopped by Carlson on a Penalty Call, while being hounded by D Keegan Kanzig '95.  F

Reid Halabi '95 a late cut last year, was aggresive, stealing the puck with his physical play and generating chances.  He also mixed it up after a whistle with D Austin Yaremchuck '95.

F Levi DeWaal was stopped by Carlson on a Penalty Call, while being chased by the speedy F Steven Hodges '94.   Hodges was dangling, making crafty inside out moves, ringing a backhander off the iron.  Hodges cleary gained some serious muscle in the off season.

F Eric Saleski '94 showed his speed and fired off a couple shots.  Speedy F Robert Cahill '95 beat a man on the outside and drew a penalty. F Clay Tait '96 gave us a sample of his play making abiltiy with several nice passes.  F Sam Barker '96 showed offensive potential with a backhander while falling down over a sprawled defenseman.

For Grey, G Owen Carlson '95 made a few big saves by coming across the goal quickly.  D Brendan Grier '97 fired a couple shots from the point unfortunately missing the target.  F Zane Jones '94 continued to show his great speed for his size and also scored.  F Tyler Soy '97 was quick and always looking for offensive opportunities.  F Liam Kroeker '96 was looking for that hit.  F Michael Bell '96 got open for a backhander, and hustled while back checking.

Two brother acts included D Austin Yaremchuk '95, and older sibling F Nolan Yaremchuk '93.  Nolan used his speed to get a shot on net which led to the Jones goal.  The TWINS...Forwards Scott and Adam Ternes '96.  When observing them however, they where playing on separate lines.

Earlier in the morning Team Manning played Team Orange and reports indicate Ben Walker is just as quick with some added strength.  Brandon Magee was his usual ball of fire.  I was told Royals leading scorer, Jamie Crooks scored on Keith Hamilton.

Local Victoria product G Markus Daly did not play due to injury.
