Royals Ink Multiple Players

The Royals signed goaltender Patrik Polivka (po-LIVE-ka) to a WHL Standard Players’ Agreement today.

The club has also signed forwards Tyler Soy, Regan Nagy and Matthew Campese (cam-PESS-y) as well as defenceman Chaz Reddekopp to WHL Standard Players’ Agreements.  

Plus the signing of forwards Brandon Fushimi and Michael Bell, defenceman Ryan Gagnon and goaltender Michael Herringer to WHL Standard Players’ Agreements.

And rounded out the day with two more, signing defenceman Kolton Dixon and forward Logan Fisher to WHL Standard Players’ Agreements.

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that the club has signed goaltender Patrik Polivka (po-LIVE-ka) to a Western Hockey League Standard Players’ Agreement.  

The Royals took the 6’0”, 168lb goaltender with the 14th overall pick in the 2012 CHL Import Draft last June. The annual draft includes all three leagues (Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League) in the CHL.

The Plzen, Czech Republic native started 31 games for the HC Plzen U20 team, posting a .917 save percentage to go along with a 3.20 goals against average. Polivka recorded a shutout in his only game with the HC Plzen U18 team and also represented the Czech Republic in international competition as a member of both the country’s U18 and U19 teams last season.
The 2010-11 season saw Polivka record a .922 save percentage and a 2.65 goals against average in 27 games for HC Plzen’s U18 team. The 18-year-old was also a member of the Czech Republic U17 team in 2010-11, competing in two games and posting a 2.79 goals against average in those contests.

Polivka spent the majority of the 2009-10 season with HC Plzen’s U18 squad, appearing in 34 games to record a 2.90 goals against average and .913 save percentage while also helping Plzen’s U16 squad to a league championship. That season, he represented the Czech Republic once again, suiting up for three games with the national U16 team.

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are proud to announce that the club has signed forwards Tyler Soy, Regan Nagy and Matthew Campese (cam-PESS-y) as well as defenceman Chaz Reddekopp to Western Hockey League Standard Players’ Agreements.  

Tyler Soy

Soy, selected by the Royals in the first round, 8th overall at the 2012 WHL Bantam draft, recently attended the 2012 Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Camp in Mississauga, ON. The mentorship camp invites 42 of the top bantam-aged players from across Canada each year. At the 2012 U-16 BC Cup last June, Soy was tied for second in scoring at the 10-team tournament with five points (2g-3a) in four games.

The Surrey, BC native spent the 2011-12 season as captain of the Cloverdale Bantam A-1 Colts where he recorded 65 points (24g-41a) in just 20 games played. In total, Soy amassed 159 points (53g-106a) over 46 games played to go along with a rating of +121 in 2011-12 including regular season, tournament and playoff action.

The 5-11,155 lb forward helped his team to three tournament titles during the 2011-12 Bantam season. Soy notched 21 points (7G-14A) in five games during the Dallas Saunders International Bantam AAA Tournament in Abbotsford. Soy also attended the 49th Annual International Bantam Christmas Tournament in Burnaby and was named a member of the Second All-Star Team. In January, Soy was named Tournament MVP and Top Forward of the John Reid Memorial Tournament in St. Albert, AB. Soy led the Colts to victory while recording 20 points (9G-11A) in six games.

Chaz Reddekopp

The 6-2, 188 lb native of West Kelowna, BC was the Royals’ second first round choice, 13th overall, in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft. At the U-16 BC Cup last June, Reddekopp was tied for first in scoring amongst defencemen with four points (2g-2a) in the 10-team tournament.

The 15-year-old spent the 2011-12 season as a member of the Pursuit of Excellence Bantam Team 1 where he tallied 59 points (18g-41a) to go along with 72 minutes in penalties over 62 contests. Reddekopp also had seven points (2g-5a) and eight minutes in penalties through nine games for the Pursuit of Excellence Midget Team 3.

Reddekopp helped lead Pursuit of Excellence to the Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament (KIBIHT) title where he amassed two points (1G-1A) along with four penalty minutes in six games. The Westside Minor Hockey product also participated in the 2012 John Reid Memorial Tournament in St. Albert, AB where he collected two points (1G-1A) in six games.

Regan Nagy

Victoria took forward Regan Nagy in the second round with the 27th overall pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. Along with fellow Royals draftee Tyler Soy, Nagy was also selected to attend 2012 Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Camp this summer. The 15-year-old received an invitation to Team Saskatchewan’s U16 Summer Development Camp in Wilcox, SK last June and has recently been named a member of the team’s top-26 players list.

The Ogema, SK resident dressed for the Weyburn Energy Wings Bantam AA team in 2011-12 where he scored 46 points (30g-16a) and had 77 penalty minutes in 23 games played. The 5-11, 148 lb Nagy also played four games with the Moose Jaw Generals Midget AAA team.

Matthew Campese

The Royals used their third round, 49th overall pick, in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft to select Matthew Campese. Born in Prince Albert, SK, Campese is the son of Prince Albert Raiders’ General Manager Bruno Campese. The 15-year-old was invited to Team Saskatchewan’s U16 Summer Development Camp alongside Regan Nagy this past June and has also been named to the team’s top-26 players list.

The 5’10, 167 lb forward played for his hometown Venice House Raiders Bantam AA team in the 2011-12 season where he notched 53 points (32g-21a) along with 98 penalty minutes in 23 games played.

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals today announced that the club has signed forwards Brandon Fushimi and Michael Bell, defenceman Ryan Gagnon and goaltender Michael Herringer to Western Hockey League Standard Players’ Agreements.

Michael Bell

Bell, a native of Kitimat, was drafted by Victoria with its third round, 55th overall, in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. Last season, Bell suited up for the Cariboo Cougars of the BC Major Midget League, compiling 12 points (5G-7A) through 34 games played.

Bell was named to Team BC for the 2011 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup. The 16-year-old also competed in the 2011 U16 BC Cup, recording eight points (3G-5A) in five games. The 5-11, 200 lb forward was also named the “Diamond in the Rough” award winner at the 2011 BC Provincial Championships as a member of the Kitimat Bantam Tier 2 team.

Ryan Gagnon

Gagnon was selected by Victoria immediately following Bell in the third round, 56th overall, in last year’s WHL Bantam Draft. The 16-year-old defenceman is coming off a 2011-12 season in which he recorded 24 points (4G-20A) in 38 games to go along with 50 minutes in penalties for the Cariboo Cougars of the BC Major Midget League. Gagnon went on to record three goals in four games of playoff action last season with the Cougars.

The Quesnel, BC native was named to Team BC’s 2011 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup roster and participated in the 2011 U16 BC Cup alongside Bell, his teammate. The 6-1, 190 lb Gagnon played for his hometown Quesnel Bantam Tier 3 Thunder in the 2010-11 season. Leading the club as team captain, Gagnon and the Thunder took home the silver medal at the Provincial Championships.

Michael Herringer

Victoria selected its lone goaltender in the 2011 WHL Bantam draft in Comox, BC native Michael Herringer with their ninth round, 188th overall choice. The 6-0, 163 lb netminder started in goal for the North Island Silvertips of the BC Major Midget League last season, recording a goals against average of 3.63 through 22 games played. The 16-year-old goaltender also led the Silvertips to a silver medal at the 2012 Richmond International Midget Tournament with a tournament-best 1.33 goals against average in three starts.

Herringer starred for the hometown Comox Valley Lube-X Bantam Chiefs in the 2010-11 season, earning an invite to prospects camp for the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BC Hockey League.

Brandon Fushimi

Placed on the Royals’ 50-man Player Protected List in 2011, the Thornton, CO native signs with Victoria following a 2011-12 season that saw the forward register 23 points (10G-13A) for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders Tier 1 Midget minor team.

The 6-1, 165 lb forward competed for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders in the North American Prospects Hockey League (PHL) 14U division during the 2010-11 season. Fushimi tallied 17 points (9G-8A) in 10 games of regular season play before adding 10 points (4G-6A) in playoff action to earn 14U All-PHL First Team honours.

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that the club has signed defenceman Kolton Dixon and forward Logan Fisher to Western Hockey League Standard Players’ Agreements.

Fisher and Dixon were each members of the Red Deer Optimist Rebels Midget AAA side that captured the 2012 Telus Cup as national midget champions last April. Trailing Phénix du Collège Esther-Blondin by a score of 5-1 heading into the third period, Fisher and Dixon were integral pieces to Red Deer’s come-from-behind double overtime victory.

Fisher netted five assists in seven games at the 2012 Telus Cup and won the face-off that led to Red Deer’s double overtime goal to win the tournament. The 6-2, 175 lb forward also notched 31 points (12G-19A) in 34 games of Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL) regular season play for the Rebels in 2011-12. The 17-year-old was selected to participate in the AMHL All-Star Game last season and would go on to record five points (3G-2A) in 10 games of playoff action en route to a provincial title. Fisher signs with Victoria after being placed on the club’s Player Protected List in September of 2011.

Dixon, a 6-4, 170 lb defenceman, signs with Victoria after being placed on the franchise’s Player Protected List in September of 2010. Dixon registered one assist in seven games at the 2012 Telus Cup for the Red Deer Optimist Rebels. The 17-year-old also notched 10 assists in 30 games in the 2011-12 AMHL regular season to go along with 44 penalty minutes for the Rebels. In post-season action, Dixon counted one assist through 10 games last year.
