Preview: Kamloops at Victoria, Friday March 7th, 2014

The Victoria Royals entertain the Kamloops Blazers for a pair of games Friday and Saturday.

Pregame show on The Zone @ 91.3 fm both nights at 6:45.

It’s the final two meetings of the season, with the Royals holding a 5-1 series advantage after winning 3-1 on the road back on February 7th.  Overall Victoria has outscored Kamloops 26-9 and won the last 5 encounters.

The Blazers are in the 10th and final spot in the Western Conference, 2 points ahead of the Hurricanes in the overall standings. 

Kamloops will wrap up 10 straight games on the road this weekend in Victoria, due to the Tim Horton’s Brier.  They’ve only won a single game in 8 outings (1-7) so far.  The Blazers have dropped 5 in a row and have only scored 3 goals in their last 4 games while allowing 16.

Riding a 3 game win streak, the Royals return home after playing 7 consecutive on the road, winning all but 1.  Most recently a weekend sweep of the Cougars by 2-1 and 5-3 scores clinching home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs.

Victoria has allowed the second fewest goals against on average while scoring the 11th most.  Kamloops has given up the 3rd most goals for and against.

The Royals have 6 games left on the schedule, 3 at home and 3 on the road.  After the pair against the Blazers, they hit the road to play the Rockets and Giants, and wrap up the regular season with a home and home with the Silvertips.
