Recap: EVTT 5 - VIC 3

The visiting Everett Silvertips scored :27 seconds apart in the third to break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Victoria Royals 5-3 Friday night in front of a sellout crowd.

“..We had to work extremely hard to generate and create any opportunities, and tonight we gave them some easy plays.” – Head Coach Dave Lowry
Tyler Soy tied the game at 3
The Royals who trailed 1-0 after the first and 3-1 heading into the final frame, clawed back to tie the game on goals by Mitch Skapski and Tyler Soy but suffered a second consecutive loss.

Juulsen's shot found it's way through in the first
“I thought in the third period we did a good job, pushed the pace…we got a couple goals…and then we made a couple indecisive plays, got caught with our defense going down, pinching and getting beat and giving up those goals…” according to Lowry

Soy ended up with a goal and assist.  Steven Hodges notched his 21st in the middle frame.

The Silvertips win their 8th in a row, and now have points in 11 straight games (10-0-0-1) in a potential first round matchup.

Fisher stopped on a breakaway by Lotz
Russian rookie Ivan Nikolishin (58pts) had a three point night with a goal and two assists, while Silvertips leading scorer Joshua Winquist (91pts) chipped in with a  pair of helpers.

Royals netminder Patrik Polivka had his personal 8 game win streak snapped, allowing 5 goals on 31 shots, while Austin Lotz won his 8th straight stopping 23 of 26.

Fransoo's fight
It was a physical affair with Keegan Kanzig administering punishing hits, and there was one fight between Jordan Fransoo and Jujhar Khaira in the first.

Everett remains in 6th, one point back of Spokane and Seattle who are tied for 4th.

The ‘Tips have two games remaining, against the Royals and Winterhawks, while the Chiefs have just one at the Americans.  The Thunderbirds fell to the Winterhawks Friday and have a pair of games left.
