The 6th place Victoria Royals (33-27-2-5, 73pts) visit the 10th place Vancouver Giants (19-47-2-0, 40pts) in the back half of a home and home set looking for their second straight win.

The Royals snappped an 11 game winless slide in Victoria Friday with a 5-3 win over Vancouver, as the line of Jamie Crooks, Brandon Magee and Steven Hodges combined for 7 points.  Hodges with 2 goals and the Gordie Howe hat trick.  Coleman Vollrath made 28 saves for his 3rd win of the season.  Cain Franson had 3 points for the Giants.

It’s the 10th and final meeting of the season, with the Royals winning the past 4 and holding a 7 games to 2 advantage in the series.

The Giants have won 3 straight at home, most recently a 1-0 overtime shut out Sunday against Everett.

The Royals had 7 scratches Friday, 5 due to injury, plus 2 suspended.  Keegan Kanzig served the final of his two game suspension, while Tim Traber served his second of six games.  Victoria was missing Alex Gogolev, Trent Lofthouse, Tyler Stahl, Luke Harrison and Logan Fisher to injury.

Victoria is playing their 4th of 5 games in 6 nights, part of a gruelling 6 in 8 stretch.

After Vancouver Saturday, the club returns home for a 5pm Sunday start against Portland, and will face the Winterhawks again Tuesday and wrap up the regular season with a home and home with Everett next Friday and Saturday.
