3-2 in a shoot out to Team Russia Monday and then 3-2 in regulation

Coach, and Hicketts wore the ‘A’ in Tuesday’s game.
"I thought our guys played hard, we were in a position each night to win. We generated a lot of chances - but we didn't capitalize." said Lowry
The 6 game series now shifts to the OHL and
then the QMJHL, and is used as an evaluation tool in the selection of players
for the upcoming World Juniors, where Lowry is an Assistant Coach for Team
Canada.

Russia heads to OHL leg of 2014 SUBWAY®
Super Series with 5-1 points lead.
Brandon, MB – Team Russia will
head east boasting a 5-1 points lead in the 2014 SUBWAY® Super Series,
defeating Team WHL 3-2 on Tuesday night in Brandon, MB.
Goaltender Denis Kostin turned in a strong 34-save effort for the Russians, who post their second 3-2 win in as many nights over the WHL.
Pavel Kraskovsky netted two goals, including the winner, and an assist to pace the offense, while Andrey Alexeev also counted for Russia.
Defenceman Joe Hicketts of the Victoria Royals and Red Deer Rebels’ captain Conner Bleackley scored for Team WHL, who badly outshot the Russians for a second straight game but come away without a win for just the second time in the history of the Super Series.

Kostin proved once again to be a thorn in the
side of Team WHL. The 19-year-old, who came into Monday night’s game for
the shootout and stopped eight of 11 WHL shooters for the win, stood tall on
Tuesday, particularly through the first two periods with his side being outshot
25-10 but coming away with a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
Kraskovsky got Russia on the board midway through the first period, scoring on the power play at the 10:07 mark. The 18-year-old factored in on Russia’s second marker as well, setting up Alexeev’s second-period marker to make it 2-0.
Team WHL finally managed to solve Kostin with Hicketts’ power play blast from the point finding the back of the net 3:46 into the third period.
Kraskovsky would restore Russia’s two-goal lead, netting the eventual game-winner 14:01 into the third period. Though Bleackley would claw one back just 45 seconds later, that’s as close as the WHL would get as Russia fended off a late-game onslaught to hold on for the victory.
Netminder Tristan Jarry of the Edmonton Oil Kings stopped 15 of 18 shots, absorbing the loss for the WHL.
Team Russia’s victory in Brandon comes one night after they edged the WHL 3-2 in a thrilling 11-round shootout in the series opener in Saskatoon, SK.
On Monday night, Jake Virtanen of the Calgary Hitmen and Cole Ully of the Kamloops Blazers scored in regulation play for Team WHL while Alexander Bryntsev and Konstantin Okulov tallied for the Russians. Tri-City’s Eric Comrie made 13 saves on 15 shots through regulation play for the WHL, but was beaten four times in the shootout to take the loss.
Team Russia now heads to Peterborough, ON, to take on Team OHL on Thursday, November 13th, in Game 3 of the 2014 SUBWAY® Super Series.
