Last season the Royals were 2-2 against the Silvertips, with a 1-0 shoot out win at home on Jan.1st, after a 3-2 road win on New Years Eve.
Friday is the expected debut of Victoria’s most recent acquisition, 19 year old forward Greg Chase from Calgary, traded for defenseman Keegan Kanzig with picks going both ways. Chase is a signed a drafted Edmonton Oilers prospect who put up 85 points in 70 games last season including 35 goals.
It’s the third game in four nights for Victoria, against teams in the CHL Top 10.
The #1 Kelowna Rockets snapped the Royals two game win streak Wednesday with a 5-3 victory after Victoria won 4-3 in overtime one night earlier. Their 26 points is good for 2nd in the the BC Division, 2 up on both Prince George and Kamloops.
Everett is 1st in the US Division, and 2nd in the West with 31 points, having won 14 of 20 games, and points in 17 of those contests. The Silvertips have only lost 3 times in regulation this season.
Everett is coming off a 7-1 loss at Portland Sunday, snapping a two game win streak while playing at the end of 3 games in 3 nights.
The Silvertips are the least penalized team in the WHL, have scored the 4th most goals on average, while allowing the 6th fewest.
Everett is led in scoring by Montreal Canadiens first round selection (26th overall) Nikita Scherbak, acquired from Saskatoon. Scherbak has 26 points in 17 games, including 11 goals. He’s only been held off the scoresheet twice this season.
Victoria boasts the 4th best power play, while scoring the 9th most goals for on average per game.
Defenseman Joe Hicketts leads the club in scoring with 32 points, which is also tops among rearguards.
20 year old forward Austin Carroll leads the club in goals with 15, tied for 3rd most in the league. He’s 9th in overall scoring with 29 points, and first in power play markers with 9.
Brandon Magee is quickly making his way up the scoring ladder, averaging 1.85 points per game after massing 24 points in 13 games.

Saturday the Royals 4 game homestand concludes with a visit from the Regina Pats. It’s the fourth annual Canadian Forces Night and Victoria will be wearing a limited edition jersey in honour of the Royal Canadian Navy Submarine Fleet.
