Preview: Victoria vs Everett

The Victoria Royals (10-10, 20 pts) kick off a 6 game homestand against the visiting Everett Silvertips (7-13-0-2, 16 pts) in their first meeting of the season Friday night.

The Royals look for their first win in team history against the Silvertips who took all 4 games last year.

Only 4 points separate the clubs, as Victoria is 3rd in the BC Divison and 6th in Conference, Everett 5th in the U.S. and 9th in the West.

Both clubs are coming off wins, the Royals a 5-3 victory in Medicine Hat last Saturday, snapping a 6 game slide while wrapping up 7 consecutive on the road.  Logan Nelson had the hat trick while netminder Patrik Polivka won his 7th game with a 29 save performance.

The Silvertips snapped a 7 game winless stretch with a 3-0 victory in Tri City last Friday, now 3 wins in their past 10.

Everett is led in scoring by 2nd overall pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, defenseman Ryan Murray, with 17 points in 22 games.  Forward Joshua Winquist is on a 3 game goal streak (4g).

Victoria’s scoring leader is Alex Gogolev with 23 points in 20 games, while forward Brandon Magee is the club leader in goals with 9.  Steven Hodges has 10 points in 12 games and represented the Royals for Team WHL in the Subway Super Series Thursday night.

After Everett Friday, Victoria faces Regina Saturday and Saskatoon Tuesday.
