Victoria has won both meetings in Kelowna 4-3 in a shootout on Sept. 28 and 4-1 on Nov. 20th. It’s their 7th meeting of the season with both clubs owning 3-2-0-1 records in the season series. Most recently the Royals settled for a split on the Island against the Rockets with a 3-1 win Jan. 17th followed by a 5-3 loss.
Victoria is coming off a franchise record 36th win after a 3-1 victory in Kamloops Friday. They’re one point away from tying the franchise record for points in a season at 77.
The Royals extended their road winning streak to 4 as Coleman Vollrath made 36 saves, and Tyler Soy’s shorthanded goal stood as the winner in a 3-1 win in Kamloops Friday night. Brandon Magee had his 20th and Taylor Crunk also scored in the victory.
Victoria runs their point streak to 8 games (6-0-0-1), and remain 3rd in the West with a one point lead on Seattle.
Kelowna is tops in the WHL with 90 points, with 7 wins in their past 10 and just 2 regulation losses in their last 14 (10-2-0-2). They have points in 5 straight (5-0-0-2). At home they’ve only lost twice in regulation (20-2-0-4), including once to the Royals.
The Rockets are coming off a 3-2 shoot out loss to the Eastern Conference leading Oil Kings Friday night. Both clubs were 1 for 6 on the power play and the shots were even at 28 a piece.
Kelowna has the 5th best power play and the most efficient penalty kill in the entire league. They’ve scored the 2nd most goals, while allowing the 3rd fewest.
