Recap: VIC 2 - REG 3

Austin Carroll had a goal and assist, but the host Regina Pats scored three second period goals in a 3-2 win over the Victoria Royals (42-17-1-3, 88pts) Friday night, snapping the clubs 7 game win streak.

The Pats scored all three goals in a span of 7:25 in the first half of the second period, taking a 3-0 lead to the final frame.

Brandon Magee’s 22nd on the power play followed by Austin Carroll’s 32nd got the club to within one in the third, but ultimately fell short dropping their first game on the Eastern Division road swing (3-1).

The Royals peppered the Pats netminder Daniel Wapple with 16 third period shots, and 33 overall earning him first star honours.  Coleman Vollrath kicked out 24 of 27 in the defeat.

It was Victoria’s first regulation loss in 15 games, and also snapped their 9 game road win streak.  Regina now has points in 7 straight and continue to lead the Eastern Divison.

Magee had 1 goal
The Royals had two 5 on 3 man advantages, one in the first and the other to start the second, but were unable to strike, going 1 for 6 on the night.  The Pats were 1 for 4.

Russian defenseman Dmitry Sinitsyn and forward Chandler Stephenson had a goal and assist each for Regina.

Victoria faces Saskatoon Saturday to wrap up 5 games in 8 days, an 11 day round trip.
