It’s the first of 5 games in 8 nights for Victoria, with 11 days of travel.

The Royals are 3rd in the West, and have clinched a playoff berth.  Victoria is ranked 10th in the CHL Top 10, and have set the franchise record for points in consecutive games with 11 (9-0-1-1).

With a win tonight, the Victoria Royals will reach the 40-win plateau for the first time in franchise history. This season, Victoria has broken the franchise record for wins in a season (previously 36) and the record for points in a season (previously 77). The Royals have also broken the franchise record for most road wins in one season (previously 16). Victoria has 13 games remaining, 10 of which are on the road.

The Royals are riding a 4 game winning streak after a 3-2 overtime victory over the visiting Americans Wednesday.  Jordan Fransoo scored the overtime winner, Steven Hodges the number 1 star with a goal and assist, while Coleman Vollrath made 37 saves.

The Raiders are 9th in the East, 4 points back of 8th place Rebels after falling 5-4 in a shoot out to the visiting Pats Friday night.

Top Prospect forward Leon Draisaitl had 3 points including 2 goals, while defenseman Sawyer Lange had 3 helpers.  The Raiders went 4 for 6 on the power play. Cole Cheveldave stopped 35 of 39 shots faced, and 2 of 3 in the shootout, in a losing cause.

Prince Albert has picked up 3 of a possible 4 points over their last 2 outings after a 4-3 win in Edmonton on Wednesday.  They have 4 wins and 2 shoot out losses in their past 10 games.

18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl has been ranked 2nd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting Service’s recent Midterm rankings for the 2014 NHL Draft, making him the highest ranked player in the WHL. 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner holds down the 40th spot.

18-year-old defenseman, Josh Morrissey has scored in all 6 games in the month of February, recording 3 goals and 7 assists.  Morrissey leads defenceman in the WHL this season with 20 goals. The Raiders captain becomes just the second Prince Albert reargaurd to ever hit the 20-goal plateau in a single season, with Emanuel Viveiros holding the record with 22 in 1985-1986.  Morrisey was a 13th overall selection by the Winnipeg Jets who have signed him to an entry level contract.

Victoria is riding a 6 game road winning streak with a 13 game over .500 record (19-6-0-1) record off the Island.  Prince Albert is 3 over .500 on home ice (15-12-1-2).

After Prince Albert Saturday, Victoria plays Monday at noon pacific in Moose Jaw, then off to Brandon, Regina and Saskatoon before travelling back to the Island.  Then they’ll play a pair in Prince George before their next home date March 7th and 8th against Kamloops.
