Victoria Royals Main Camp came to a close Wednesday night as Team White beat Blue 6-5 in the Intrasquad game. Tyler Soy and Matthew Campese (Cam-Pess-ee) each recorded hat tricks. Victoria kicks off Exhibition play Friday night with 3 games over 3 days in Everett versus the Silvertips, Thunderbirds and Americans. The Royals only home pre-season date is September 11th against the Giants.

Royals’ 2014 Intrasquad Game presented by Kirby’s Source for Sports took place
Wednesday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre as Team Blue squared off
against Team White. The game marked the end of the Royals’ 2014 Training Camp
schedule. Team Blue gave Dylan Myskiw the start in net, while Griffen Outhouse
took to the crease for Team White.
Team White
opened the scoring off a goal from Matthew Campese just 10 seconds into the
opening frame. Team Blue answered back at the 10:04 mark of the period with a
goal off the stick of Keith Anderson. Outhouse made several key saves for
Team White throughout the period, but Tyler Soy would put Team Blue up 2-1 to
cap off first period scoring.
Outhouse
and Myskiw traded saves early in the second period before Evan Smith took over
in goal for Team Blue and Michael Herringer was sent between the posts for Team
White. Campese netted his second of the night for Team White just nine seconds
later to tie the game. Dante Hannoun then scored to put Team White up 3-2 at
the 14:22 mark. Team Blue quickly answered with a goal from Matthew Phillips 55
seconds later. Soy would score his second of the game late to put Team
Blue up 4-3 at the second intermission.
Team White
tied the game when Dawson Frank tapped home a Mathew Dykstra pass at the 10:38
mark. Team Blue regained the lead as Soy completed the hat-trick. With just 48
seconds left, Logan Fisher scored for Team White to tie the game once again.
Campese would then complete a hat-trick as well just 26 seconds later to power
Team White to the victory. Team White 6 Team Blue 5.
Team
White went 1/2 = 50.0% on the powerplay, while Team Blue went 0/2 = 0.0%. Team
White outshot Team Blue 47-39.
The Royals
now begin their 2014 WHL Pre-Season schedule. Victoria will head to Everett, WA
to play three games this weekend against the Everett Silvertips, Seattle
Thunderbirds and Tri-City Americans. The Royals lone home exhibition contest
will take place Thursday, September 11th when they host the
Vancouver Giants at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop is slated for 5:05
p.m.
