Victoria forward helps Canada to gold medal at 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
ROYALS' SOY WINS GOLD WITH TEAM CANADA

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals would like to congratulate forward Tyler Soy who has won a gold medal with Team Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team after defeating Team Czech Republic 6-2 in the final of the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
The victory marks Soy’s first international gold medal while Team Canada picked up its seventh consecutive title at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. In five tournament games, Soy notched six points (2g-4a) and two penalty minutes.
Soy, a 5-11 center, recently completed his rookie season with the Royals in which he posted 30 points (15g-15a) over 65 games played. Named the club’s 2013-14 Rookie of the Year, Soy also notched two goals and one assist in nine games during the 2014 WHL Playoffs. The Cloverdale, BC native was selected by the Royals with the eighth overall pick of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
Soy has been involved with Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence before. Last year, Soy helped Team Pacific to a silver medal at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Soy finished the tournament with five points (2g-3a) in six games played.
