4-3 IN OVERTIME

from 3-2 deficit to beat Kamloops.

Victoria,
BC- The Victoria
Royals beat the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night, with Joe
Hicketts scoring the overtime winner.
Veteran
goaltender Coleman Vollrath made his fourth consecutive start in goal for the
Royals, while the Blazers countered with Cole Kehler between the pipes.
Both teams
exchanged power play goals in the first period with Brandon Fushimi tallying
for Victoria and Cole Ully for Kamloops. The Royals took the lead in the middle
frame on Dante Hannoun’s first career WHL goal, before the Blazers answered
back with a marker from Nick Chyzowski.
Kamloops scored late in the third
period before Austin Carroll tied the game with 42 seconds left to send the contest
to overtime.
Royals’
netminder Vollrath stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced for the win. Goaltender
Kehler turned away 27 of 31 shots for the Blazers.
Victoria
went 2/6=33.3% with the man advantage, while Kamloops went 1/4=25.0%.
The Royals
now head to Vancouver tomorrow for a match-up against the Giants. Puck drop is
scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
