The Victoria Royals (20-19-2-1, 43pts) were edged 3-2 by the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers (28-9-1-1, 56pts) Thursday night, the #7 ranked team in the CHL. Player of the Week, Travis Brown scored late to bring the Royals to within one, but the Tigers hung on to snap Victoria’s three game win streak.
Friday Victoria entertains Prince George for a pair of back to back games to close out a 7 game homestand. The Cougars are three points back of the 2nd place Royals in the BC Division.

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals dropped a
3-2 decision in a physical match-up against the Medicine Hat Tigers at
Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Thursday night.
The Royals ran into penalty trouble throughout the
game as the Tigers’ Dryden Hunt scored the game winner on a 5-on-3 powerplay in
the third period. Victoria’s Tyler Soy opened the scoring in the first stanza,
while Travis Brown notched the other marker. Austin Carroll (6g-7a), Soy
(7g-6a) and Brown (4g-8a) extended their point streaks to seven games. Medicine
Hat’s first two goals were scored by Chad Labelle and Ty Schultz.
Royals’ netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 31 of 34
shots he faced, while Tigers’ goaltender Marek Langhamer would save 20 of 22
shots.
Victoria went 0/4= 0.0% on the powerplay, while Medicine
Hat went 1/6=16.6%.
Royals will close out their seven game
homestand with a two-game series against the Prince George Cougars tomorrow and
