BRYTON SAYERS FROM LETHBRIDGE

draft pick for 1996-born defenceman.

BC- The Victoria
Royals are pleased to announce that the club has acquired defenceman Bryton
Sayers (1996) from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a fifth round
draft pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
Sayers has
played in 38 games for the Hurricanes this season and counted 10 points (2g-8a)
while earning 23 minutes in penalties. For his career he has played 84 games
and scored six goals and assisted on 15 tallies for 21 points. He also has 56
career minutes in penalties.
The Prince
Albert, SK native was a third round selection (#48 overall) by Lethbridge in
the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
The 5-10,
198 lb blueliner Sayers played his minor hockey with the Prince Albert Mintos
of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL). In 2012-13 he was named
the SMAAAHL’s Top Defenceman and also led all blueliners in scoring that year
with 53 points (12g-41a) in 44 regular season games. In the 2013 playoffs he
had eight assists in 11 games.
He also
played for the Mintos during the 2011-12 season and scored 29 points (8g-21a)
in 42 regular season games. He also added one goal in 12 playoff games that season.
Victoria
wraps up their seven game homestand tonight when they take on the Prince George
Cougars. The Royals will then go on a three game Eastern Conference road trip
where they will square off against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, January 16th,
the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday, January 17th and Edmonton Oil Kings
on Sunday, January 18th.
The Royals return home for a two game series against
the Kamloops Blazers on Friday, January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th. Puck
