The visiting Victoria Royals settled for a split against the
Kamloops Blazers after falling 4-1 Friday afternoon. The Royals had won 3-2 Wednesday night.
Blazers Jermaine Loewen and Ryan Rehill struck twice in a
span of 1:32 in the middle frame to
break a 1-1 draw, and Matt Revel added an empty netter in the third to snap Kamloops
3 game losing streak.
“We turned pucks over way too much, we weren’t getting
pucks and bodies to the net as much as the other night,” said interim head
coach Enio Sacilotto on the difference in the game.
Victoria got
their lone goal from Jack Walker in the final minute of the first to tie the
game at 1.
The Royals had their streak of points in 3 straight snapped, but still lead the season series 4-2 and
will meet for a final two times in Victoria
Feb. 19th and 20th.
Blazers got a goal and assist each from Matt Revel and
Collin Shirley.
Victoria
netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 38 of 41 shots in the loss, while Connor
Ingram allowed one goal on 30 shots.
The Royals went 0 for 2 on the power play, while the Blazers
went 1 for 3.
“Special teams need to better, and eliminate neutral zone
turnovers,” said Walker on what
it takes to get back in the win column.
Victoria’s
Logan Fisher played in his 250th game, while defenseman Chaz
Reddekopp celebrated his 19th Birthday on New Years Day.
The 3 game BC Division road trip wraps up Saturday night in Kelowna
against the Rockets
“One of the advantages of our team is playing four lines,
everyone needs to be going in Kelowna
– that would definitely help us win.” Commented Walker.
