Preview: Swift Current at Victoria

The Victoria Royals (15-13-0-1, 31pts) entertain Adam Lowry and the Swift Current Broncos (13-15-3-2, 31pts) in their only meeting of the season Saturday night.

Adam Lowry is the son of Royals Head Coach Dave Lowry, and is also Captain of the Broncos. 

It’s also the club’s annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, last year Zane Jones got the goal in an 8-5 victory against Lethbridge on Dec 9th.

Last season Victoria fell 3-1 in Swift Current on January 17th.  The Royals are coming off a 7-2 loss to the Giants on the Wednesday and now sit 7th in the West.

Swift Current won 3-1 in Vancouver Friday night, now (1-2) on their BC Division road swing, with the losses in Kelowna and Kamloops.  Swift is in sole possession of 6th in the East with 31 points.

The Broncos lead the league in short handed goals with 7, and their power play is ranked 2nd best overall - penalty killing 6th best.  4 of Swift Current's 5 wins over their last 11 games have been against the Wheat Kings. 

Broncos Finnish Netminder Eetu Laurikainen has played in all but 2 games for Swift Current this season.  Adam Lowry is riding a 7 game point streak (5g 6a).

Victoria forward Logan Nelson is on a 10 game point streak (4g 9a), Brandon Magee has a league high 6 first goals.  Alex Gogolev is the team point leader with 33 points.

It’s the last home game for the Royals before 3 on the road in Seattle, Red Deer and Edmonton, then pausing for the Christmas Break.
