Preview: Victoria at Prince George, Sat Dec 1

Victoria Royals (14-12-0-1, 29pts) look for back to back wins in Prince George (9-13-1-3, 22pts) Saturday night after a 2-0 shut out victory Friday.

Joe Hicketts would hit the post on the Power Play Friday night in PG.
Patrik Polivka made 30 saves for his 11th win, while Alex Gogolev had 2 assists to give the Royals a 2-1 lead in the 8 game season series.  It’ll be their 4th meetings in 5 games (2-1). 

Austin Carroll and Jamie Crooks got the goals for the club, who took a 2-0 lead into the third and shut the door.

The Royals were outshot 30-28 on the night, but held a 14-4 advantage in the second.

Victoria went 1 for 5 on the power play, while shutting down all 4 Prince George man advantages.

Last season the Royals took 6 of 8 encouters against their BC Division rivals, winning all 4 on the road while splitting the double headers at home.  They’ve now won every game on the road against the Cougars in team history (5-0).

Victoria forward Alex Gogolev is now on an 11 game point streak (4g 9a) and leads the team in points with (32).  Logan Nelson has pushed his streak to 8 games (3g 8a) and is tied with Gogolev in assists (21).  Crooks has now scored 50 goals with the Royals and has tied Kevin Sundher (90) for 2nd all time goals scored in Bruins / Royals history.

Victoria remains 6th in the Conference with 29 points, 4 more that 7th Seattle, 5 ahead of 8th place Everett.

The Cougars fall into 9th in the Conference, 7 back of the Royals.

Victoria is undefeated in regulation in their last 3 games, taking 5 of 6 points in that span.  The Royals improve to 5-8 on the road, while Cougars dip to 2 games below .500 at home (5-7-1-0).

After the game in Prince George Saturday night, Victoria returns home for a tilt against BC Division rivals Vancouver Wednesday and Swift Current on Teddy Bear Toss Night a week Saturday.
