Preview: Victoria at Kamloops

The Victoria Royals (24-17-1-2, 51pts) visit the Kamloops Blazers (30-13-2-3, 65pts) Saturday night, for their 3rd meeting in 5 nights.

The Royals defeated the Blazers in Victoria 6-4 Tuesday, and 3-2 in a shoot out Wednesday.  The season series is now tied at 3 games a piece.

Both clubs are playing their 4th game in 5 nights, Kamloops winning 4-1 on the road Friday night at Tri City.

Victoria won 6-2 Friday night in Vancouver for their club record 4th consecutive win in a row.  Steven Hodges scored twice, for a 3rd game in a row, while Alex Gogolev had a 3 point night with a goal and two assists.  Patrik Polivka was the number one star with a 30 save performance, earning him his 20th win of the season.

The Royals power play remains red hot going 2 for 4 on the night, and 11 for 25 (44%) over their last 5 games.

Steven Hodges has scored twice in each of his last 3 games, now 7 goals in his last 4 games and 8pts (7g 1a).  Alex Gogolev had a goal and 2 assists, extending his point streak to 5 games (2g 9a) and 11 points.  With an assist, Brandon Magee extends his point streak to 5 games (1g 5a) with 6 points.

The Royals played without 6 players due to injury. Logan Nelson (Lower, 3-4 weeks), Ben Walker (Upper, 3-7 days), Luke Harrison (Upper, indefinite), Tim Traber (Lower, 5-7 days), Jamie Crooks and Mitch Deacon.

Victoria is 6th in the Conference and move 4 points back of 5th place Tri City.  Kamloops is ranked 9th in the CHL, and are 3rd in the West.

The Blazers have 3 players in the top 10 in scoring, Colin Smith 3rd with 71pts, and Tim Bozon and JC Lipon tied for 6th with 60 points.

Tonight the Royals look for the clubs first win at the Interior Savings Centre against the Blazers.
