Recap: Kamloops 2 - Victoria 3 (Shoot Out)

Steven Hodges scored twice and added a goal in the shoot out to help the Victoria Royals  (23-17-1-2, 49pts) edge the visiting Kamloops Blazers (29-13-2-3, 63pts) 3-2 in a shoot out Wednesday night.

Hodges, Jack Walker and Tyler Stahl all scored in the 8 round shoot out giving the Royals back to back wins over the Blazers and even the season series at 3 games a piece.  They’ll meet again Saturday in Kamloops.

The line of Hodges(2g), Brandon Magee (2a), and Alex Gogolev (2a) combined for 6 points.  Hodges had back to back 2 goal games in the two game set, Gogolev scored 5 points.  Kamloops got 2nd period goals from Cole Ully and Dylan Willick.

Victoria came from behind again, this time trailing 2-1 in the third to win their 9th game this year when trailing after 40 minutes.  They now have points in 7 straight at home and are riding a 3 game win streak.

Only Colin Smith and Tim Bozon where able to beat Patrik Polivka in the shoot out.  Polivka earned his 19th win of the year with 31 saves, while Taran Kozun turned aside 26 pucks for his 4th loss.

The Royals went 1 for 4 on the power play, with Hodges scoring on a 5 on 3 in the 3rd to tie the game.  The Blazers were 0 for 3.

The Royals were without 6 players due to injury. Logan Nelson (Lower, 3-4 weeks), Ben Walker (Upper, 3-7 days), Luke Harrison (Upper, indefinite), Tim Traber (Lower, 5-7 days), Jamie Crooks and Mitch Deacon sat out.

Victoria is 6th in the Conference and remains 6 points back of Tri City who won in Vancouver Wednesday.

Victoria now hits the road for a pair, Friday night in Vancouver and Saturday in Kamloops to complete a 4 game in 5 night stretch.
