After a 4-0 win Friday night against the Canes, the Royals have won back to back games and will look for their first sweep of the season. Lethbridge has dropped 4 in a row as they kicked off their 4 game BC Division road trip.
Friday night Logan Nelson and Joe Hicketts had 3 point nights with a goal and 2 assists each, while Patrik Polivka stopped all 27 shots for his 2nd shut out of the season. Over his last four outings, Polivka has a 3-1 record, posting 2 shutouts to go along with a 1.26 goals against average and 0.955 save percentage.
Brandon Fushimi scored the eventual game winner on a shorthanded breakaway in the first. Austin Carroll rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist.
Victoria’s power play was 2 for 7, while stopping all 7 Lethbridge man advantages. Their penalty kill is now 2nd best in the league stopping 27 of their last 28 over their previous 6 games.
It was the Royals 5th win of the season, pulling to an even .500 (5-5). The club earned back to back wins for the first time this year after a 2-1 victory Sunday against Tri City.
After Lethbridge Saturday, Victoria’s 5 game homestand wraps up with a pair against the Prince George Cougars Monday afternoon and Wednesday.
