Recap: LETH 0 - VIC 4

Patrik Polivka stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Victoria Royals shut out the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-0 Friday night.

It was the first of a two game set, with the rematch Saturday night in Victoria. 

Logan Nelson and Joe Hicketts had a goal and two assists each, while Brandon Fushimi scored the eventual game winner on a shorthanded breakaway in the first.  Austin Carroll rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist.

It was Polivka’s 2nd shut out of the season and 4th victory.

The Royals scored singles in the first and second before adding a pair of power play goals on their first two shots of the third.

Victoria’s power play was 2 for 7, while stopping all 7 Lethbridge man advantages.  The shots were 27 a piece.

It was their 5th win of the season, pulling to an even .500 (5-5).  The club earned back to back wins for the first time this year after a 2-1 victory Sunday against Tri City.

The Canes drop their 4th in a row, and fall to (1-6-0-1) on the season as they kicked off their 4 game BC road trip, with the remaing stops in Kamloops and Kelowna.

After Lethbridge Saturday, Victoria’s 5 game homestand wraps up with a pair against the Prince George Cougars Monday afternoon and Wednesday.
