Ben Walker scored the game winning goal on a shorthanded breakaway, while Patrik Polivka earned the shut out with a 28 save performance as the visiting Victoria Royals (3-4) blanked the Cougars in Prince George 1-0 Wednesday.

Victoria earns the split in the two game set after being shut out 2-0 the night before.

After a scoreless first, Brandon Fushimi caused a turnover in the neutral zone, sending Walker in for the breakaway, finishing with a back handed deke.  It would be all the scoring the Royals would need, now only allowing 3 goals against in their last 2 outings.

Rookie netminder Ty Edmonds who only allowed 2 goals in his previous 3 starts, stopped 23 of 24 Royals shots for his first loss of the season.  Polivka improves to (2-3) on the season while the Royals are (3-4) on the year.

Neither club could strike with the man advantage for a second night in a row, both going 0 for 3.

Their were 2 fights, Regan Nagy of the Royals against Zach Gonek, and a battle of the heavy weights.  Austin Carroll went up against 6’6 Martin Bobos from Slovakia.  Carroll took the decision and Bobos did not return for the second or third period.

Victoria improves to 2-1 on their 4 game road trip , which wraps up Friday with their first meeting of the season against Kamloops since falling to the Blazers in six games in the playoffs.
