Recap: TRI 1 - VIC 2

The Victoria Royals (4-5) earned their first home win of the season with a 2-1 come from behind victory over the Tri City Americans (2-5-0-1) Sunday afternoon.

Netminder Patrik Polivka made 33 saves for first star honours, including a second period penalty shot stop on Philip Tot when the game was 1-0 Tri City.

Victoria was who was playing their 4th game in 6 days, were outshot 17-4 in the middle frame but turned the tables in the third, for their 2nd come from behind victory of the season.

Down 1-0 after 40 minutes, the Royals got goals from Logan Nelson on the power play and Brandon Fushimi, the eventual game winner.  Beau McCue opened the scoring in the second for the Americans.

Victoria made good on their only man advantage going 1 for 1, while Tri City went 1 for 5 with the power play, ending the Royals perfect penalty killing streak at 18 straight.

Americans 16 year old rookie netminder Evan Sarthou made his first WHL regular season start, and played well allowing 2 goals on 25 shots.

Victoria who’s 9 games played is the most in the WHL, welcome a 4 day break in between games.  Their 5 game home stand continues Friday and Saturday with a  pair of games against Lethbridge, followed by a two game set against Prince George.
