Victoria’s 2012 third round pick to skate for Team West at 2014 World

Royals would like to congratulate forward Matthew Campese who was today named
to represent Team West at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Cape
Breton, NS.
Campese, a Prince Albert, SK native who has signed
with the Royals, currently plays for the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Midget
Prep team. In just 16 games so far this season, the left winger has recorded 39
points (21g-18a).
The 5-10, 188
lb forward appeared in four games for the Royals in the 2013 WHL Preseason,
notching a goal and two assists. During the 2012-13 season, Campese put up an
impressive 93 points (54g-39a) in 50 games for OHA. Campese was originally
selected by Victoria in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft with the club’s third round,
49th overall, pick.
The 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will bring
together the top hockey talent under the age of 17 from across Canada and
around the world. The tournament will take place from December 29, 2013 to
January 4, 2014 in Cape Breton, NS.
The Royals will host 2015 NHL Draft top prospect Mathew Barzal and the Seattle Thunderbirds at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a two-game set beginning tonight. Puck drop is scheduled 7:05 p.m. this evening.
