Victoria completes
trade with Brandon for hometown forward.

Victoria,
BC – The
Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that the club has acquired 1995-born
forward and Victoria native Jack Palmer from the Brandon Wheat Kings in
exchange for a pair of fifth round selections in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.
Palmer
joins the Royals from the Wheat Kings, where he had just begun his second full
season with the club. So far this season, Palmer has registered three points
(1g-2a) in 15 games with Brandon. During the 2012-13 season, the 6-2, 183 lb
forward appeared in 60 games and notched 12 points (3g-9a) as well as 18
penalty minutes.
The
Vancouver Island product was originally drafted by the Wheat Kings 175th
overall in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. Before joining Brandon, Palmer suited up
for the Saanich Braves of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) in
the 2011-12 season. With Saanich, Palmer recorded 53 points (24g-29a) in 37
games en route to being named the VIJHL Rookie of the Year.
With
the trade, Palmer returns to his hometown where he also played the 2010-11
season in the BC Major Midget Hockey League with the South Island Thunderbirds.
Palmer notched 26 points (10g-16a) in 37 games as a member of South Island.
Palmer
will join the Royals in time for the club’s road trip to Seattle and Portland
this weekend, while Victoria will host Edmonton at Save-On-Foods Memorial
Centre tonight. Puck drop for this evening’s game is 7:05 p.m.
