Recap: KAM 2 - VIC 4



Tyler Soy and Chaz Reddekopp each scored twice to lead the Victoria Royals to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Kamloops Blazers Friday night, in the beginning of a two game set.

Soy the number 1 star, scored the only two goals in the middle frame to break a 1-1 draw.  Reddekopp opened the scoring and then gave the home squad a 3 goal cushion in the 3rd period.

Joe Hicketts chipped in with a pair of helpers, while Coleman Vollrath earned his and the clubs 3rd straight victory to start the season, making 26 saves.

Jake Kryski and rookie defenseman Nolan Kneen scored the goals for the Blazers who fall to 0-3 to start the season after a pair of losses on opening weekend to the Rockets.  Jesse Zaharichuk had two assists for Kamloops, while Kryski added an assist to his goal.

Kamloops netminder Connor Ingram allowed 4 goals on 29 Victoria Shots.

Both clubs struck on the power play, the Royals were 2 for 6, the Blazers 1 for 4.

Royals forward and CHL Player of the Week, Alex Forsberg notched an assist to lead the league in scoring after Friday night’s action with 8 points (2g 6a).

The Blazers have never opened a season with four straight losses.  They’ll play eight times again this season. After this weekend, they next meet Oct. 10 and 21 in Kamloops.
