SCOTT WALFORD NAMED TO HOCKEY CANADA’S UNDER-17 ROSTER

will represent Canada at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

BC- The Victoria
Royals are pleased to announce that defenceman Scott Walford has been named to
Hockey Canada’s Under-17 Team for the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The annual
tournament takes place from October 30th – November 7th
in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John BC. The tournament will feature three
Canadian teams - Canada Black, Canada Red and Canada White. The rosters for the
three squads will be finalized in the coming weeks.
The
6-1, 188 lb defender took part in the 2015 Canada Winter Games last February
with Team BC and collected three assists and four penalty minutes in six
contests.
A
native of Coquitlam, BC, Walford is in his rookie season with the Royals and
has notched four penalty minutes in four contests. The 1999-born blueliner made
his WHL debut last season as a 15-year-old and played in two games versus the
Spokane Chiefs.
Walford
was Victoria’s first round pick, selected 18th overall in the 2014
WHL Bantam Draft in Calgary, AB.
The Royals
are in Kelowna tonight to take on the defending Western Hockey League
Champions, the Rockets at 7:05 p.m. Victoria will wrap up their two-game road
trip tomorrow vs. the Kamloops Blazers with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
