The Victoria Royals (4-1) are in Spokane to take on the Chiefs (2-1) Friday night, for their first of four meetings this season.
Victoria (0-3-0-1) earned a point in a shoot out loss in four games last year versus Spokane.
Last year Spokane bowed out in the second round of the playoffs in 7 games to Tri City.
The Royals are coming off a 4-3 overtime victory courtesy of Brett Cote’s second goal of the season, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday night. Victoria out shot Medicine Hat 13-1 in the 3rd, before Alex Gogolev tied it late with the extra attacker. The Royals also got goals from Jamie Crooks, and Brandon Magee.
The Chiefs dropped a 3-2 decision against the Giants in Vancouver last Sunday. They opened the season winning the home and home series with Tri City by 5-3 and 5-2 scores.
Victoria is on the road for four games now, kicking off the trip with 3 games in 3 nights.
Tonight the Royals look for the franchise’s first win versus the Chiefs in Spokane.
