Jamie Crooks and Brandon Magee brought the Royals to within one heading into the third period. The Royals pushed in the third, outshooting the Tigers 13-1, and were finally rewarded with an Alex Gogolev tying marker with 1:13 remaining and the net minder pulled.
Brett Cote scored the winner 3:03 into overtime, snapping the Tigers 3 game win streak while wrapping up the Royals 4 game homestand with a 3-1 record.
Patrik Polivka made 14 saves, while his counterpart Marek Langhamer was busy kicking out 26 pucks.
Both clubs power plays were 1 for 4.
Both Gogolev and Magee had a goal and an assist, while defenseman Tyler Stahl had 2 asssists.
WHL player of the week Hunter Shinkaruk scored once, while teamate Trevor Cox had 2 goals, both in the first.
They’ll meet one more time this season, in Medicine Hat on November 10th.
