Royals Host 2 Games This Week

ROYALS HOST TWO GAMES THIS WEEK; TEDDY BEAR TOSS NIGHT ON FRIDAY
Victoria hosts Prince Albert tomorrow and Vancouver on Friday.

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will host two games this week, beginning with the Prince Albert Raiders tomorrow night. The Royals will then welcome the Vancouver Giants on Friday night for the fourth annual Teddy Bear Toss Night.

TORONTO BOUND: Tuesday’s match-up against the Prince Albert Raiders will see two possible Team Canada players face off against each other. The Victoria Royals' Joe Hicketts and the Raiders Josh Morrissey were invited to Team Canada's evaluation camp. Hicketts currently leads defensemen in the CHL with 38 points (8g-30a) in 30 games, while Morrissey has 21 points (7g-14a) in 24 games, good for 12th in the WHL. 

SEND OUT THE HATS: Axel Blomqvist scored the Victoria Royals’ first hat-trick of the season in a 6-3 victory against the Saskatoon Blades last Friday night. This marked Blomqvist’s third hat-trick in his Western Hockey League career. Last season, Blomqvist notched his first hat-trick as a Royal on December 27, 2013 in an 8-1 win vs. the Prince George Cougars. Victoria’s last hat-trick was scored by Austin Carroll on February 4, 2014 in a 7-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen. The Royals went a span of 60 games including playoffs between the two hat-tricks.

TUESDAY – BOSTON PIZZA TWO-FOR-ONE TUESDAYS

-          Japan Camera will be on site at Gate 1 to take Christmas photos with Marty the Marmot. Photos are by food or cash donation to the Mustard Seed Food Bank.

FRIDAY NIGHT – TEDDY BEAR TOSS NIGHT

Fans are encouraged to bring their new teddy bears or other plush toys to the game and throw them on the ice after the first Royals’ goal.  Toys will be distributed by 2 Burley Men Moving & Hauling to a variety of local charities such as the Zone 91.3’s Toy Drive, the Salvation Army and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  Mini-Marty the Marmot stuffed toys are also on sale at all three Capital Iron and all six Save-On-Foods locations in greater Victoria leading up to Friday for $10 .00 each. Proceeds will benefit the BC Children’s Hospital. 

PRE-GAME

-          A limited number of Mini Marty the Marmot stuffed toys will be available to purchase upon entrance.

-          Capital Iron will be on site with a Christmas Light display, and handing out coupons on entrance with lucky numbers.  Fans are encouraged to check their numbers at the Capital Iron booth at Gate 1 during the intermissions for a chance at a prize from Evolution Lighting.

-          Save-On-Foods will be providing bags for fans to protect their stuffed toys from moisture as they throw them onto the ice.
