BC- The Victoria
Royals are pleased to announce that the club has acquired defenceman Jordan
Wharrie (1997) from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for the rights to
unsigned defenceman Carter Stephenson (1998).
A native of
Port Moody, BC, Wharrie comes to Victoria after recording four points (2g-2a)
and 39 penalty minutes in 50 games for the Silvertips last season. Wharrie has
played in 57 WHL regular season games with Everett and has notched two goals
and two assists for four points to go along with 41 minutes in penalties.
The 6-2,
180 lb defender skated in 11 playoff contests last season for the Silvertips
and registered two points (1g-1a) and eight penalty minutes.
Stephenson,
a product of Vancouver, BC was drafted by the Royals in the 2013 WHL Bantam
Draft in the ninth round, 188th overall.
Victoria
continues their pre-season schedule with a match-up against the Vancouver
Giants on Saturday, September 12th at the Ladner Leisure Centre in
Delta, BC at 4:00 p.m.
The Royals’
lone home contest of the pre-season is set for Sunday, September 13th
when they host the Vancouver Giants. Puck drop is set for 2:05 p.m. at
Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
